ArchEPI: How it works
The Problem
Climate change and chronic disease are global challenges that are experienced hyper-locally – in our homes, our neighborhoods, our schools, and our workplaces.
Building codes and best practice guides do not reflect this reality. Instead, they take a one-size-fits-all approach.
Project teams are left to prioritize climate change mitigation, adaptation, and equity efforts on their own. The result has been a patchwork of green and healthy buildings that make sense inside the property line but may not improve conditions for the neighborhood or community as a whole
The Solution
ArchEPI is a map-based, web tool that uses shared metrics to bring local government, community groups, and real estate developers together around the added value generated by community benefit design.
What ArchEPI Does
ArchEPI is a cloud-based Software-as-a-Service that:
Identifies location-specific climate change and chronic disease priorities, associated evidence-based strategies and metrics.
Links building-scale metrics to their community-level counterparts (e.g., climate action plans, sustainability plans, community health impact plans, etc.).
So that stakeholders community members, developers, and local government can identify mutual goals and alignment around community priorities.
